The Future of Marc

尽管Marc在历史上功勋卓著,然而随着科学的进步和信息技术的发展,越来越多的网络工具、搜索引擎、网络载体的诞生和升级,使得Marc的存在遭到质疑,面临诸多威胁和挑战,例如其受制于卡片目录的思维,规定繁杂,有些近似苛刻,传统编码格式有局限性,仅在图书馆内使用,编目对象单一。但同时Marc也处在成长和发展的重要时期,具有很大的发展空间。未来的Marc将是完整组织文献信息的最好方式。

Although Marc has a remarkable role in our library＇s history, with the development of science and technology, the appearance and upgrading of web-based tools, online search engines and internet carriers challenge the existence of Marc. In author＇s thought, though Marc has some weaknesses and some limitations with its birth, facing many threats and challenges, it is the good time for it to grow up and evolve better. Marc has its necessities not only to exist, but also to expand its future in an extensive space. Marc will be the best method to organize literature information.
