很难想象,甲骨文(ORACLE)公司的传奇居然要从IBM开始。1970年,IBM的公司研究人员发表了一篇里程碑式的论文《R系统:数据库关系理论》,介绍了关系数据库理论和查询语言SQL。甲骨文掌门人埃里森非常仔细地阅读了这篇文章,被其内容震惊:这是第一次有人用全面一致的方案管理数据信息。在这个启发下,埃里森和他的同事开始着手编写关系数据库。虽然当时IBM也投入巨资在编制这一产品,但这4个人的小公司创造了一个奇迹:他们第一个在市场上推出了SQL关系数据库产品。由此,埃里森促成了一个有着远大前程的行业——软件业的诞生。
