This paper focuses on the novel application of α-diazocarbonyl compounds in syntheses of five-membered heterocyclic compounds. These reactions have been classified into four kinds: intramolecular carbenoid X-H insertions; Carbenoid additions to π-bonds；isomnchnone cycloadditions, and ylide formation and subsequent reactions.
