节能减排是我国的一项基本国策，中远集团作为目家的骨干航运企业，做好节能减排工作责无旁贷。

Energy saving and emissions reduction are basic policies of China. As the backbone shipping companies,related units shall not shirk their responsibilities to do a better job in energy saving and emis-sions reduction work. In order to actively respond to the appeals of the Central Government and the State Council,implement scientific development view,protect environment and ocean,build up a source-saving society and environment-friendly enterprise,and welcome the '2008 National Energy-Saving Promotional Week' themed on 'en-ergy saving according to laws and all-people mobilization' with prac-tical actions,all units shall take practical and active actions,shoul-der the social r esponsibilities of energy savi ng and emissions reduction,adopt the measures to 'lower operational shipping speed and using service shipping speed' and reduce oil consumptions and emissions effectively,so as to promote the progresses of energy sav-ing and emissions reduction work. All units shall bring into full play the staff's sense of masters,encourage them to make explorations and innovations and offer their suggestions on energy saving and emis-sions reductions work,so as to contribute to the fulfillment of the overall targets of energy saving and emissions reduction and create a good atmosphere for the work. Take COSCO Group for example,COSCON has taken the measure of lowering average shipping speed of fleet to reduce the oil consumptions and waste gas emissions of vessels,moving a step-forward in fulfilling COSCO Group's commitment in 'Global Compact',improving its social responsibilities and realizing the sustainable development of the group.
