On the Engraved Eaves Tiles Unearthed in Maoling Mausoleum

茂陵是西汉第五位皇帝刘彻的陵墓,因陵地位置在汉时的槐里县茂乡,故名茂陵。茂陵及其陪葬墓出土了大量的珍贵文物,尤其文字瓦当最具特色,为研究汉代思想文化提供了实物资料。

Maoling Mausoleum is that of Liu Che, the fifth emperor in the Western Han Dynasty. Due to the fact that the mausoleum was in the township of Mao,Huaili County,the mausoleum got the name of Maoling. Maoling Mausoleum and its accompanying tombs have got a multitude of valuable cultural relics,especially engraved eaves tiles which are distinctive,offering real materials for the research on thought and culture in the Western Hart Dynasty.
