谢灵运注意到作家个性与文章风格之间的关系;认识到创作乃源于现实生活,故倾向于感物抒怀;认为文学创作应该自由地抒发真实的情感,不拘旧式,允许创变;认为文学创作活动本身与参悟玄理能够互动相得,具有舒忧娱悲、通神会性的功能。

Xie Lingyun had noticed that the relationship between writer＇ s personality and the style of their essay. He had known that creation was rooted in real life, thus tending to ＂express from exterior influences＂; he had thought that literature should be free to express true feelings, free of previous restrictions ; he had thought that literary activity itself and meditating on metaphysics can interact with each other, which has the function of diverting from worry and approaching to enlightenment.
