Action Chain in Middle Constructions

中动结构现象在学界引起了广泛的讨论,大部分研究集中在对中动结构生成机制及其动词的归属研究上。文章在总结已有文献对中动结构的研究基础上,从认知语法句法分析的行为链模式及能量传递的观点出发,分析了中动结构所反映的典型事件模式在信息传递及状态改变等方面的具体体现,以期望加深现有的对中动结构的认识。

The middle construction has been dealt with in a number of studies, but often in traditional grammars and semantics, which is virtually not very plausible. Little has been made in cognitive linguistics. This paper introduces Langacker＇ s action chain and energy transmission theory, which provides a new perspective to the analysis of the special cognitive basis for the middle constructions. The existence of energy transmission in the action and the change of state caused by the action is a necessity for the middle constructions no matter the verb is transitive or intransitive. The paper also point outs that the acceptability of the middle constructions varies in English and Chinese and action chain may also apply to other sentence structures in both languages.
