The modular high temperature gas cooled reactor(MHTGR),as anadvanced nuclear reactor,is more safety,more flexibility and economythan other nuclear reactors,so that the nuclear technology advancedcountries are paying attention to developing it.This paper mainly int-roduces the design and safety charactristics of the MHTGR which isnewly developed in USA.
