A Re-discussion of Wording and Quality-A Comparative Perspective

文与质是中国传统文论话语中的一对诗学范畴。传统文论中的文与质与现代文学理论中的内容与形式的概念并不完全等同,而是具有自身独特、丰富的历史内蕴和特色鲜明的演变历程。在比较的视域下,对文质概念的缘起、文质关系的历史流变加以纵向的梳理,同时也对中西不同的文质取向及其文化内因进行溯源式的探讨,突显文质论的民族特色,对中国当代文学理论建设具有重要的现实意义。

Wording and quality are a pair of poetic categories in Chinese traditional literary theoretical discourse. They have their own unique and rich historical connotation and are characterized by special evolvement, From a comparative perspective, it is realistically significant for the construction of the modern literary theories to sort out the historical evolvement of relations between the two and to probe into the origin of the notions of wording and quality, different orientations in China and the West and the cultural motivations of wording and quality.
