摘要
This article puts forward some suggestions on housing construction on the basis of an introduction of Hong Kong’s public housing development. The author argues that there should be dual emphasis on "quantity" and "quality" in the solution of housing problems, more so when China is now in bad need of housing and when there exists a tendencyof seeking for "quantity" at the cost of quality. He thinks the following points should be c0nsidered in housing planning and design: 1) Residents’ new and higher demands on housing as a result of higher living standard; 2) A sense of belonging in a residential area; 3) Models befitting typical Chinese families; 4) Quality of building materials; 4)" Incremental proportion" of design; 5 ) Economy of energy resources; 6) Prefabricated units; 7) Residential district administration.
