The Reflection on the Set-up of English Teaching Based on the Paper Abstracts of Graduates in the Police Academy

《大学英语课程要求》规定了不同层次的学校实现不同的外语教学目标。根据武警学院的实际情况,把武警学院的教学目标定位于一般要求,即在两年的大英教学结束后,培养学生英语综合应用能力,特别是听说能力,使他们在今后工作和社会交往中能用英语流畅地进行口头和书面的信息交流,同时增强其自主学习能力,提高综合文化素养,以适应我国经济发展和国际交流的需要。但从实际看,情况并不乐观。所以,有必要开设英语选修课。

College English Curriculum Requirements has defined different teaching aims for different colleges. The teaching aim of our school is to cultivate the students’ integrated language skills, particularly the listening and speaking abilities, and the ability of autonomic learning and to improve the comprehensive cultural qualities of students after finishing two-year English learning. However, the final result is not so satisfied. The article mainly discusses the necessity of the electives.
