Why Models of Domain-general Inductive Inference Are Impossible

摘要 现有的归纳推理模型都是领域一般性的,这些模型的局限性和遭遇到的困难说明在领域一般性的意义上考察归纳推理可能是行不通的。而逻辑学的研究已经承认,要建立一个完全的归纳逻辑是不可能的。归纳推理研究应该放弃领域一般性的思路,并且进一步预测,在进化心理学的范式下,采用领域特殊性的视角和功能分析的研究方法会给归纳推理研究带来新的活力。 All the present inductive inference models are domain-general. The limitations of these models and the difficulties they encounter have demonstrated that it may be impossible to study inductive inference by exclusively relying on a domain-general approach, for the logicians have admitted that it is impossible to establish a complete inductive logic. Addressing these issues, this paper not only proposes that the study of induetive inference abandon the domain-general approach, but also predicts that the adoption of a domain-specific perspective and of the method of function analysis in the paradigm of evolutionary psychology will throw new light on the studies of inductive inference.
