The Adaptability of HDD to stratums to be drilled significantly affects the pipeline projecting, drill tools selecting and operation parameters using. This evaluation method is based on three characteristics of rocks and soils, which are hardness, integrality and abrasion of the formation to be drilled. By using them with the HDD tools and techniques, evaluations about the drilling efficiency, the borehole stability and the life of drill bits can be made.
