Nature of Cyber Language and Its Semantically Irrational Tendency

随着网络语言的流行,关于其性质和语义特征的争论愈发激烈。通过运用相关社会语言学理论分析大量典型的网络语言实例,认为网络语言的性质是青年语言的变体,网络词语与黑话有着本质区别。网络语言在语义上经常表现出非理性的倾向,其两大根本原因一是网络语言对表达功能的强化;二是网络语言对酬应功能的强化。

With the prevalence of cyber language, there are increasingly heated arguments over its nature and semantic feature. By applying relevant social linguistic theories and analyzing numerous typical examples of cyber language, the author concludes that as the inevitable outcome of social development, in nature, cyber language is the variety of youth speech, and cyber words are quite different from cant. Cyber language often tends to be semantically irrational because it strengthens both expressive function and phatic function .
