"形神"是标志人的形体与精神关系的一对范畴。《黄帝内经》"形神"范畴,形成了"形与神俱"的理论命题,使中医药学正确地把握了形体与精神的关系;又从先秦哲学中引进了"神明"认知方法,掌握了借助于事物现象,发现(把握)事物本质的方法,在生产力低下,可以凭借的技术手段有限的时代,通过研究人体的生命现象达到把握生命本质的目的。

‘Body and spirit’ is a pair of category that indicates the relationship between body and spirit.The categogy of ‘body and spirit’ of Inner Canon of Huangdi shapes the theory of ‘somatic and spiritual harmony’.It makes the TCM grasp the relationship between body and spirit exactly,and introduce the cognitive method of ‘mind’ from pre-qin philosophy,master the method of discovering the essence of things from observing the phenomenon.Therefore,in the era of low productivity and limited technique,TCM can recognize the essence of life by study the vital phenomena of human body.
