摘要
萨尔曼.拉什迪的《撒旦诗篇》引发了一场带有"文明冲突"意味的"拉什迪"事件,但迄今为止,我国外国文学评论界尚未对这一事件的深层次原因进行探讨。本文认为,虽然这一事件在很大程度上可以用"文明的冲突"来解释,但除此之外,还应到作者那复杂的跨文化背景所导致的身份错位,以及其"后现代"观念中去找原因;但作者也并非一味跟自己的印度穆斯林背景过不去,而总是努力在西方文化的大环境中寻找、确立自己的文化身份。因此,作者具有一种双重自我,其叙事手法上的"双主角"便是这种双重自我的反映。
Although Salman Rushdie's Satanic Verses triggered off the famous Rushdie Affairs with "powerful clash of civilizations" undertones, there has not been so far an adequate discussion of the causes of the matter by Chinese the academia of foreign literature. The present thesis argues that though to a great extent it may be explained by the hypothesis of "clash of civilizations", a more satisfactory interpretation may be produced by looking into the identity displacement and post-modern notions in the novel that resulted from Rushdie's complicated cross-cultural background. On the other hand, Rushdie is not totally alienated from his Indian-Muslim upbringing while seeking a new identity in the overall cultural milieu of the West, and for these reasons, the author has a split double serf, the best embodiment of which is his double -protagonist narratorial technique.
