Why Chu Ci was not Collected in Record of Art and Literature of History of the Han Dynasty

本文以探讨《汉书.艺文志》为何没有著录《楚辞》入手,梳理了《楚辞》一书的结集过程,探讨了《别录》与《楚辞》二书完成时间的先后,认为刘向写《别录》在先,结集《楚辞》在后,所以《别录》中没有收录《楚辞》,班固因袭《七略》既成体例,故不录入。

In order to find why Chu Ci was not collected in Record of Art and Literature of History of the Hart Dynasty, the collecting process of Chu Ci was investigated and the time sequence of the completion of Bie Lu and Chu Ci was explored. It is found that Liu Xiang collected Chu Ci after he had written Bie Lu, therefore, Chu Ci was not collected in Bie Lu. Followed by the style formed in Qi late, Ban Gu did not collect Chu Ci in Record of Art and Literature of History of the Han Dynasty.
