It is pointed out that, as far as meaning is concerned, Michael Reddy＇s conduit metaphor theory has its loopholes, which are summarized as three points in the paper. Only from the perspective of cognitive pragmatic meaning theory, can meaning be fully and effectively understood and linguistic communication can be successfully conducted.
