A new technological process to produce alkyd resin by use of maleopimaric acid (MPA) as polyol instead of PA. The properties of the MPA alkyd resin with the above simple process can meet the requirement,particularly the cost of production is lower than the conventional alkyd resin. This article listed several applications in fast-dry alkyd varnish and discussed the production technology of MPA alkyd resin.
