The rivalry between life and nature is represented by Jack London＇ s realistic novel The White Silence. Facing the bru- tality of nature in the north, people make every effort to seek for survival. The jungle law seems to manipulate the destiny of the world and is to be observed. Nevertheless, it is the affections towards life, relatives and friends that have built those ordinary people into supermen and finally help them win the battle against nature.
