The writing style of Donald Barthelme' s short story The Glass Mountain is especially peculiar. He uses figures from 1 to 100 to number the phrases, sentences and paragraphs to compose the whole story. Actually the story is a parody of a Scandinavian fairytale called The Princess on the Glass Mountain. In the story, by means of anti-novel method the author wants to show the incredibility and inefficiency of old ways of narration. In the postmodernist world many thinkers and theorists frequently base their activities on language itself. Writing is merely a wordplay from their point of view. The special writing style features The Glass Mountain.
