In the long biographical novel Sophie's Choice, William Styton, an American writer from the south, uses complex narration, unreliable narrative and irony to give a deconstructive interpretation to the truth of history and tragic meaning, which reflects Styton' s thinking of the history and man' s existing straits as well as the author's human attitude and moral feeling. It inherits and surpasses Faulkner.
