This article introduces the main traditional views of the art＇ s origin and the recent research achievements concerned. Book of Poetry was originated from the record of Yao Ci, the ancient ballad and Zhou Yi. By taking The Book of Poetry and Sorrow of Separation as examples, this essay, expounds the relationship between the realism and the romanticism in the Chinese literary art based on analysis of its formation, cultural significance and characteristics.
