This paper introduces the following contents： 1） a brief introduction to the Korean legal system, 2） the meaning of library law, 3） the legislative history of Korean library laws and the details of past and present library laws, 4） a critical overview of historical developments of Korean library laws and several suggestions for establishing better library law. The paper also includes the current Korean Library Law, its Enforcement Ordinance and its Enforcement Regulations, all in full text in Chinese, as appendixes.
