The Liuxihe reservoir is located in the subtropical and monsoon climate area and a multipurpose water project, with a normal level of 235 m and a gross reservoir capacity of 378million m3 and benefits mainly from power generation, water control, irrigation and water supPly.This hydro station has set up a remote hydrometric system, with the cooperation of the Nanjing Automatic Research Institute, including the central station, transmit stations, gauging stations and rainfall stations- A forecasting model and a calibration model have been establishedfor flood forecasting . The experience with 8 flood peaks during the two years has shown the acceptance ratios for forecasting flood discharge and time of peak have been satisfactory.
