摘要
1997年1月21日以来，新疆伽师地区发生了强震群活动，至4月16日共发生7次6级地震。新疆维吾尔自治区地震局追踪分析了强震群序列和前兆资料，对其中3次6级、3次5级地震公开向社会作出了临震预报，取得了明显的社会减灾实效。
The strong earthquake swarm in Jiashi, Xinjiang began with the shock of January 21,1997. To April 16, 7 Ms 6 earthquakes had occurred. The Xinjiang Seismological Bureau traced and analysed the strong earthquake swarm sequence and precursor data, publicly issued 6 impending forecast, of 3 Ms 6 and 3 Ms 5 earthquakes, which gained outstanding hazard-migating real effects.
