Historical Records Viewed as the Records of the Chinese National Spirit

司马迁不只为中华民族著史,同时为中华民族写心;《史记》不只是中华民族发祥、发展、奋斗、成长的民族史章,同时也是中华民族真切、深沉、多姿、多彩的民族心谱。本文从民族心灵史这一角度,探讨和论述《史记》写人写心的实绩;《史记》在陶铸民族精神、塑造民族性格上所具有的巨大作用以及我们在这方面的研究上所存在的缺失。

Sima Qian not only wrote a history for the Chinese nation, but recorded the Chinese national spirit as well. Historical Records is not only a record of the origin, development, struggle, and growth of the Chinese people, but also a brilliant true picture of the Chinese faithful, profound and channing national spirit. This paper discusses in perspective of the records of the Chinese na- tional spin.＇t how people and their spirit are described in Historical Records. It points out that Historical Records has played a great role in purifying the people＇ s soul and in moulding their temperament, probing into the study in this field which is far from enough.
