Context is closely related to the correct understanding of a discourse. Based on a brief study on the development of context theory, this article presents readers rich examples to show the important roles context plays in the correct understanding of a discourse. Then, this article gives readers the relevant suggestions on how to develop students＇ ability of context reconstruciton in the teaching of reading, such as asking prompt questions in terms of the discourse context, encouraging students to predict what is going to happen based on the context and enhancing students＇ awareness to cultural differences, etc.
