The application of journalistic words, which include idiomatic reporting expressions, specially-used words for the title or headline etc., is seen as one of the most remarkable characteristics of journalistic English. For effective news reporting, journalistic words are used actively and regularly with only one clear meaning in a certain context, and they have the pragmatic functions of accuracy, brevity, objectiveness and stability.
