摘要
大多数大学英语教师认为学生在小组活动时过多使用母语,出现太多与之无关的言行,因而很少开展课堂小组活动。然而经过对某大学课堂小组活动进行录音分析后发现,学生使用母语现象以及与小组活动无关的言行,都有其不可或缺的语用功能。因此小组活动在大学英语课堂教学中应该得到广泛开展。
The majority of college English teachers hold that them seldom incorporate group work into the class mainly due to student's overuse of mother tongue and high frequency of students' off-task behavior during group work. However, after an analysis of the audio-recording of a group work activity in a college English class, it is found that students' use of mother tongue and their off-task behavior during group work have indispensable pragmatic functions. Therefore, it is concluded that group work should be widely incorporated into the college English classroom teaching.
