A Cognitive Study on Conceptual Metaphors Based on the Corpus "Mencius"

文章以莱考夫和约翰逊提出的概念隐喻理论为基础,主要探讨了《孟子》中关于"政治主张"、"亲民浓情"和"个人修养"等核心内容的三个主要隐喻的哲学内涵、源域和目标域的相似性以及认知机制,以求以中国传统文化为语料探寻认知隐喻观的共性。

The paper mainly explores three metaphors on three crucial ideas ＂political proposition＂, ＂emotion of kind to mass＂ and ＂ individual moral＂ in ＂Mencius＂ theoretically based on the conceptual metaphor theory by G. Lakoff and M. Johnson. Meanwhile, the authors also discuss the philosophical implications, resemblances between a source domain and a target domain, and the cognitive mechanism of the conceptual metaphors, proving the universality of cognitive conceptual metaphor in concept construal supported by Chinese classic corpus.
