As the successful example of the first to popularize higher education, the American model of higher education has been controversial, paid attention to, adopted and spread in the UK. While surveying on the transformation of the UK higher education from cultivating elites to mass education, either on its philosophy, policy and practice, or on its expansion, structure adjustment and institution innovation, we can find the influence of the United States on its course of development. A comprehensive study on this impact will provide beneficial reference to the healthy development of mass higher education in China.
