Because the style of the essay is inharmonious with Morning Flowers, Collected in the Evening,Wu Chang is often simplified by the researchers. But with the help of Wu Chang, Lu Xun draws his ideal to the father (including fathers and teachers). Shou Jing--wu and Mr. Teng Ye have a lot of similarities in the ways of depiction. They are the positive models of "teachers" for whom Wu Chang are representative, and at the same time, they are right complements of "absent father" in Lu Xun's life. The three come together to Wu Chang. Wu Chang has embodied Lu Xun being in pursuit of "the father of a person" in his lifetime and raised Morning Flowers, Collected in the Evening to a higher level combined with aesthetic feeling and philosophic theory.
