Compared with previous ones, the education system of Song Dynasty is a great innovation. In daily teaching activities, the government strictly controlled the promotion of the imperial students by competitive rules and regulations as well as political and economic means. At the same time, it also laid emphasis on the selection and appointment of teachers that is done through competition. Such competition system not only can greatly increase the teaching quality but also offer some advice to the education reform of today.
