This paper is a tentative study of applying the relevance theory to the translation of metaphor.The paper,to start with, reviews briefly the basic viewpoints of metaphor and the relevance theory, which underlies the analysis about the translatability of metaphor, and about metaphor translation efficacy according to the relevance translation models.
