Mathematical Exchange between Hadamard and China

阿达玛与中国的数学交往分成两个阶段:1936年在清华大学和离华以后。在清华大学,他介绍华罗庚与维诺格拉多夫直接通信,并把偏微分方程初步系统地介绍到中国。离华之后,他编写的几何教科书在中国得到了广泛传播;他直接指导吴新谋,为中国撰写偏微分著作,进一步推动中国偏微分方程研究的发展。此外,他对数学方法论的研究在中国也受到重视。阿达玛对中国现代数学的发展影响深远绵长。

The mathematical exchange between Hadamard and China is divided into two stages: Hadamard's visit of Tsinghua University in 1936 and afterwards of his departure from China.In Tsinghua University,Hadamard not only introduced Hua Luogeng to directly communicate with I.M.Vinogradov but also systematically introduced theory of partial differential equations to China briefly.After his departure from China,the geometrical textbook edited by him was circulated widely in China;he pushed on the development the study of partial differential equation by tutoring Wu Xinmou and writing a partial differential equation book published in China.His study of the mathematical methodology was also taken seriously in China.His influence on the development of modern mathematics of China was deep and has been sustained for a long time.
