摘要
委婉语是用温和、含糊和迂回的说法替代粗俗、生硬和直率的说法。本文从语用的角度分析委婉语,认为委婉语作为一种语言现象,受到语境的制约,与言外行为有关。但它却违反了合作原则的某次准则或几项次准则,之所以如此,是因为人们的交际活动中除了受合作原则的制约,还受其它更高层次的行为准则的制约,即礼貌原则。
Euphemism is a device to express one＇s ideas in a mild, vague and roundabout way, the application of which is restricted by context and related to illocution. From the point of view of pragmatics, euphemism violates the cooperative principle in order to comply with the politeness principle.
