Exporting Chinese Culture to the World in the Age of Cultural Globalization _to Seek Equal Dialogue with the Western World

在我国两千多年的翻译活动中,中译外一直处于次要的位置。近代以来,西方各种文化思潮被大量译介"引进"中国,中外文化交流更是出现了严重的"逆差"现象。在文化全球化的今天,文化"输出"成了一个国家"未来可持续发展"的关键。"东学西渐"作为一种文化战略,顺应时代需求,肩负着重要的历史使命。我国译界学者应更加重视中译外翻译研究,认清困难、调整策略,以寻求与西方文明的平等对话。

During China＇ s two-thousand-year history of translation, translating from Chinese into foreign languages has long been ignored. Since the 19th century, a great variety of western books have been translated into Chinese. Thus, the cultural exchange between China and foreign countries is obviously unbalanced. In the context of cultural globalization, exporting culture is crucial to a country＇ s future sustainable development. For China, the strategy of exporting Chinese culture to the world accords with the trends of the age and shoulders heavy historical mission. Chinese scholars should attach greater importance to translating from Chinese into foreign languages and seek equal dialogues with the Western world.
