CitiStat, Baltimore' s performance - management strategy, has produced dramatic improvements in city services and efficiency. Based on real -time data collection and review, the CitiStat approach allows government to immediately spot problems and take corrective action before they mushroom and become unmanageable. The success of CitiStat reveals city governments should not only focus on public services delivery in operational level, but also pay attention to the over - all performance data and promote the accountability of agencies and departments by data-driven tools.
