英语散文翻译的声律再现问题

On preservation of prosodic elements in translating English prose into Chinese

探讨声律在散文体裁中传达情感意蕴的重要功能,论证在英语散文翻译中再现声律审美价值与表情功能的必要性,在分析英汉语言各自音系特点的基础上,探索英语散文汉译过程中如何使英语的重音节拍型节奏与汉语的声调型节奏适当匹配的问题,并提出以功能为基础的等效方法再现原文的声律审美价值。

This paper discussed the important functions of prosodic elements in prose to communicate emotional implication. It argued for the necessity to preserve the esthetic values and ex- pressive function of the source text prosodic elements in the tar-get text in English-Chinese translation. On the basis of analyzing the phonetic systems of the two languages, it explored how the English stress-timed rhythmic pattern could match the Chinese tonal pattern. It is suggested that an approach to achieving equal effects should be adopted to preserve the prosodic esthetic values of the original.
