Cathodic electrodeposition （CED） coatings, with the advantages of high ratio of utilization, automation, low environmental pollution, even coating thickness, strong corrosion resistance, and high throwing power was suitable to utilize in complex shaped metal workpieces coating and used widely as primer in automobile industry. The history of CED coatings was reviewed and the trend of its future development was forecasted.
