Research on the Salt Production Areas in the Yuan Dynasty

元代大约有173个海盐盐场,池盐产地5处,四川茶盐转运司所辖井盐盐场12个、官府所控制的大井95口(邛州、绍熙府等地私井尚未计算在内),云南有井盐产地4处,土盐产地有太原1处。与宋、金相比,腹里、江浙沿海地区海盐生产得到一定的发展,其他地区盐业生产都遭到严重破坏。

In the Yuan Dynasty, there were about 173 sea salt fields, 5 pond salt production areas, 12 well salt fields administrated by Tea and Salt Transportation Department, 95 salt wells controlled by the government （excluding private salt wells in Qiongzhou, Shaoxifu, etc.）, 4 well salt production areas in Yunnan, and 1 alkali salt production area. Compared that in the Song and Jin Dynasty, the sea salt production along the coastal areas in Jiangsu and Zhejiang developed to some extent and the salt production in other areas was destroyed seriously.
