西方意识流小说是西方现代派文学中最有影响的派别之一,它的产生基于对人的心灵世界的挖掘,承载着对人的本真思想的探讨、对意识深层的揭示以及对个体生命的理解和感知。它以特有的艺术形式实践着文学是人学的命题。中国新时期作家对意识流小说的接受同样基于对人的认识、对特定时期人的观念不断提升的前提。新时期意识流小说相对西方意识流文学而言是一种时空上的错位与审美观念上的应合。自此,当代文学的叙事艺术发生了重大变化,其核心是从对外部事物的描写转向内部世界的探讨;当代文学的创作视点也从此真正走进"人"这一文学创作主体。

Writers of stream of consciousness believe that literary themes should be human-centered. The acceptance and practice of stream consciousness in novel writing by Chinese writers in the New Period has brought great changes to the contemporary narrative writing, with the focal shift from the depict of the outside world to the exploration into the inner world, which makes human beings as the focus of the contemporary literary writing.
