从福尔摩斯到霍桑——中国现代侦探小说的本土化过程及其特征

From Sherlock Holmes to Huo Sang——The Localization and Characteristics of the Chinese Modern Detective Stories

清末,以《福尔摩斯探案集》为代表的侦探小说被大量译入中国,中国现代侦探小说家程小青随之塑造了"东方的福尔摩斯"——霍桑的形象。从《福尔摩斯探案集》与《霍桑探案集》的相似性和相异性入手,可以探讨侦探小说作为一种外来的小说类型,如何被清末民初以来的中国知识分子接受和改造,并最终成为一种具有本土色彩的通俗文学形式。在此过程中,"启蒙性"和"工具性"成为中国现代侦探小说的重要本土特征。

At the end of the Qing Dynasty, many detective stories were translated into Chinese. The stories of Sherlock Holmes were representative. Cheng Xiaoqing, one of the Chinese detective novelist, has portrayed a detective named Huo Sang, who was called Chinese Holmes. This paper analyzes how the detective story, as a foreign type of novels, was accepted and changed by Chinese intellectuals and became one kind of the local popular novel types. During this process, enlightenment and utilitarianism has become the important local features of the Chinese modern detective stories.
