Baiyun International Airport has experienced many changes since its establishment in the 1930s. It is now one of the three largest airline hubs on China’s mainland and is among the main fronts in China Customs’ antidrug campaign. In the year from September 4, 2006, to September 4, 2007, the Guangzhou Baiyun Airport Customs House solved 103 drug-trafficking cases and seized 127 kg of heroin, cocaine, amphetamine, and cannabis. On average, two drug-related cases are subject to administrative sanctions in that jurisdiction each week, but the volume of cases only increases the determination of China Customs to combat drug-traffi cking.
