Modbus communication protocol is applied for the data communication between the PCS7 control system for the oxygen generator and the single-chip microcontroller for the nitrogen turbine from cameron, USA in the Oxygen Plant of Shuicheng Iron ＆ Steel Group. The principles, composition, functional characteristics and application software designed for the communication as well as the operation of the system are described in detail. The successful achievement of the communication has shown the good compatibility and openness of Modbus in third-party communications. After the renovation, the data communication, interlock control, measurement and recording of the two systems have been achieved and the safety and integrity of the system have been reinforced.
