With the increasing communication with different countries in the world, people realize the importance of the communication competence of foreign languages. This essay analyses the pragmatic failures and the cultivation of cross-cultural awareness in foreign language teaching, describes the possibility of improvement of cross--cultural communication competence, and gives the advices on strengthening the cultivation of cross--cultural awareness.
