摘要
“下”（down）的空间隐喻在汉英语中使用广泛，主要被用来建构抽象概念：时间、方位、状态、社会地位和等级、价值和数量、品质和水平、情绪。这些概念都是生活中的基本的、重要的抽象概念。人们需要借助空间隐喻来理解这些概念，这证明了空间隐喻对人们认识世界的重要意义。空间隐喻也存在跨文化、跨语言的差异，从而丰富了对比语言学、跨文化交际的研究。
Spatial metaphor of ＂下＂＆ down is widely used in Chinese ＆ English. They can construct abstract conception - -time, space, condition, social status ＆ class, value ＆ number, quality ＆ level and mood, which are the essential ones in daily life. People can understand the abstract conception with the help of spatial metaphor. It proves that spatial metaphor is important for people to know the world. Spatial metaphor has cross -culture, cross- language difference, so it enriches the research on cross -culture communication ＆ contrastive linguistics.
