语际转换模式在规范城市公示语英译中的运用

On models of translating public signs from Chinese into English

随着社会的发展,我国与国外的经济文化交流日益频繁,英语公示语亦如雨后春笋般遍布于全国各车站、公园、景区等公共场所。但由于缺乏统一的管理,英语公示语翻译却不尽如意,错译、乱译、死译等现象比比皆是,有时甚至出现拼写错误的现象。本文根据公示语的"静态"和"动态"意义及用词特点,从语际转换的角度分析使用‘对应式’和‘替代式’转换模式来规范翻译英语公示语的设想。

The translation of public signs are essential to international tourists destinations. Among the problems still to be tackled in China, inadequate of public signs stands out as an especially serious one. This article provides a theoretical framework for dealing with the problems in translating public signs by using corresponding and substitution. It is the intention of the author if these public signs and translation can be of some help to the work of translation of public work in China.
