The importance of the language-identity nexus in the research areas, such as sociology and linguistics, is discussed. It is pointed out that language testing is often applied as an important means of identity recognition throughout human history, such as overseas study, graduation, promotion, even sexual orientation. But how to maintain its fairness and objectiveness so as to prevent wrong identity recognition needs to be pondered over.
